History
In the 1950s, when Turkey was just beginning to industrialize, Vehbi Koç, the founder of Koç Holding, was looking for a product that would bring foreign currency to Turkey. Under the country conditions of those years, he established a partnership with Bejerano, who was experienced in this field, for an investment in a tomato paste and canned food factory. The name of the company established in 1955 was registered as Beko, a combination of the first two letters of Bejerano and Koç. However, due to the situation the country was in, the company could not start operations.
In those years, when the opportunity arose to establish the sales and dealership of General Electric light bulbs, the name of the canned food company was changed to Beko Ticaret A.Ş. Thus, Vehbi Koç, who established the dealership system for the first time in Anatolia, delivered Arçelik products to the consumer's home with this system.
Transferring Arçelik distributorship to Atılım in 1977, Beko Ticaret started to operate in the Turkish white goods sector under the Beko brand name with its strong experience accumulation as of 1983.
As the Koç Holding Durable Goods Group turned towards overseas activities starting from the 1990s, Beko was determined as the export brand.
By the year 2000, as a result of the restructuring of Koç Holding Durable Goods Group, Beko left Beko Ticaret A.Ş. and came under the roof of Arçelik A.Ş. together with the Arçelik brand.
BEKO, being the first Turkish white goods brand to be offered for sale abroad, set out with the goal of becoming a "World Brand". With the success in the Turkish market being carried abroad since the early 90s, the BEKO brand has become a part of the daily life of 280 million consumers in more than 100 countries around the world. Today, a BEKO branded product is sold every two seconds anywhere in the world.
